Meet Merritt Spangler, our Strategic Partnerships Manager. Merritt joined the team a few weeks ago, and I recently sat down with her to get know her better. Here's what she had to say.

Tell me about where you grew up? What brought you to SF? How long have you lived here?
I was born and bred in the Southeast, and most of my childhood was spent in a town outside of Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Spontaneity brought me to San Francisco. I went to Syracuse University and spent a couple years post-college in New York City. One day it hit me that I needed a change, and I picked up and drove west.

What are your hobbies, and what do you like to do on your time off?
I'm an avid skier. I also love hiking, sailing, traveling and reading a good book now and again.

Favorite vacation you've been on?
New Zealand and Myanmar are two of my favorite countries that I've traveled to. Totally different from one another though, ha! But they are both beautiful and interesting in their own way. (We have a world traveler on our hands!)

Dream vacation?
I would love to visit South America--Patagonia in particular.

If you could pick any actress to play you in a feature film, who would it be and why?
Emma Stone. She's so cute! And what a great personality.

If you could go to dinner with anyone past or present, who would it be and why?
Ellen DeGeneres. I saw her in NYC one time and did not say anything to her.. boy do I regret that! I loved her show Ellen, that aired back in the 90s and continue to watch her on The Ellen DeGeneres Show today. She is such an inspiration and a great example of resiliency.

Guilty pleasure?
In-n-Out burger.. without a doubt.

If you won the lottery today, what's the first thing you would buy or do?
I'd buy a plane and travel. Maybe even get my pilot's license and fly the plane myself. :) (Very cool and very brave!)

If you could go back in time to any moment or time period, what would it be and why?
The 70s. For the free spirit and the fashion. (Ditto!)

Do you have any pets?
Yes, I have a 13 lb. Pug/Terrier mix who I rescued from the Marin Humane Society. His name is Larry.

What brought you to CoverHound?
The awesome team and culture. It's also a great feeling working for a company I truly believe is making an impact in this industry and in people's lives. (We couldn't agree more!)

Welcome to the team Merritt! Your outgoing personality and adventuresome spirit is already complementing the team nicely! We're so happy you joined us!
