  • How is CoverHound different from other insurance quote comparison sites?

    CoverHound has a direct relationship with insurance carriers, which enables us to show actual rates and sell policies on the carrier's behalf. Other comparison shopping sites provide estimates that are not real-time, true quotes, and often end up selling customer information.

    At CoverHound, the shopper’s privacy is protected. We do not sell or share any customer information unless it’s used to facilitate the purchase of an insurance policy.     Payment method may depend on the carrier you select, but we accept all forms of credit or debit cards.

  • What insurance providers do you carry?

    CoverHound is constantly adding more carriers to the platform. Currently, we write policies for Progressive (and Drive Insurance for CA), Kemper (and Kemper Specialty for CA), Infinity, 21st Century, Liberty Mutual, Dairyland, Safeco, Titan, Travelers, Mercury, CSE, Foremost, Century National, MAPFRE, MetLife, The General, National General, Good2Go, ASI, Pacific Specialty, Plymouth Rock, GeoVera (earthquake), Workmen's and Selective (flood insurance provider).

    For Business Insurance we write policies for Chubb, Liberty Mutual, HISCOX, Progressive, and Employers.

  • What lines of insurance do you offer?

    Currently all lines of Personal P&C insurance including Auto Insurance, Homeowners Insurance, Condo Insurance, Renters Insurance, MotorCycle Insurance, Umbrella Insurance, Personal Articles Policies, and other Specialty Lines (i.e. - RV, Boat, etc.). Plus, Business Insurance offerings: General Liability Insurance, Business Owners Policy, Professional Liability Insurance, Workers Compensation Insurance, Commercial Auto Insurance and Cyber Insurance.

  • Do you offer insurance in my state?

    We currently have rates available in all states for personal lines except Alaska, Hawaii, Rhode Island and Massachusetts. We offer business insurance in every state, but Massachusetts.   • Do you offer taxi insurance?

    We currently do not offer taxi insurance.

  • Do you offer mobile home insurance?

    Yes, we offer mobile home insurance!

  • Are your quotes really free?

    Yes! It is 100% free to compare insurance quotes at CoverHound.

  • Are your quotes just estimated premiums?

    No, our insurance quotes are real, actual rates obtained directly from the insurance carriers we represent. CoverHound also takes pride in the fact that these actual rates are delivered very quickly online or over the phone with a licensed CoverHound Insurance Agent.

  • I need an SR22 filing. Does your quote include the filing fee?

    SR22 filing fees average about $20-$25. If you get a quote on CoverHound.com, currently the rate will exclude SR22 fees. However, you can get a final rate with all fees included from our licensed insurance advisors at 866-278-7881.

  • Will getting a quote affect my credit score?

    No. Even though, in most cases, individual carriers will access your credit score to make a quote, they make what's called a 'soft inquiry', or soft pull. These have no impact on your FICO or credit score since they're not related to applying for financing. It will show on your records so that you know who accessed the report; but think of it like getting a credit card offer in the mail, as opposed to attempting to get approved for an auto loan. No credit score is pulled when carriers quote for business insurance.

  • What types of discounts do you offer?

    For auto insurance, the discounts we offer include: multi-policy, multi-car, multi-driver, new car, mature driver, safe driver, higher education, homeowners, continuously insured, paperless, military, special occupational discounts, driver training, good student, usage based pricing, e-sign, and many others depending on the insurance carriers available to you in your area.

    You may also lower your cost with a switcher discount when moving your policy to a new insurance provider. We can help you do that.

  • Do you offer a discount if I purchase more than one policy on your site?

    In almost all cases, if you purchase two or more policies from the same carrier through CoverHound you will get a multi-policy discount. However, sometimes the combined cost of getting an auto policy from one carrier and a homeowners policy from another is cheaper than if any discount was applied with a single carrier. The beauty of CoverHound is you find the cheapest available package across multiple carriers.

  • Will CoverHound service my policy if I buy from them?

    We service most policies we sell. Whether CoverHound or your carrier services your policy, CoverHound’s Customer Care Team is always there to address your needs or concerns.

  • I need a Certificate of Insurance. Who do I request that from?

    Typically, a certificate of insurance will be included as part of your policy forms. If you cannot find this, please reach out to your insurance carrier’s customer service department.

  • Quotes on CoverHound are cheaper than what I’m currently paying. Can I cancel my policy?

    Yes - you can cancel your current policy and be refunded a prorated portion of your premium; however, make sure your new insurance policy is in effect before cancelling to avoid any coverage gaps.

  • How do I file a claim?

  • Can I change the limits or other terms of my policy?

    If you have purchased a policy through CoverHound, please call one of our Insurance Advisors at (805) 210-8184, to discuss policy changes.

  • What security measures do you take to keep my information safe?

    The security of your personal information is important to us. When you enter sensitive information (such as a credit card number) on our billing forms, we encrypt the transmission of that information using secure socket layer technology (SSL). We follow generally accepted standards to protect the personal information submitted to us, both during transmission and once we receive it.
