Joe mcaulay

We would like to introduce you to our newest member of the Marketing Team. Meet Joe McAulay, our Customer Satisfaction Manager! I sat down with Joe to get to know him better.

Tell me about where you grew up, and what brought you to where you live now?

I grew up in Michigan. I would say what most people say, “just outside of Detroit”. We moved around a lot; however, I ended up in a small town called Richmond, MI. What brought me to the West Coast was a longing for change. I was 28 and searching for something new and different. I quit my job, sold everything I owned and drove cross country to start a new life. At that time in my life, I was not sure where I wanted to settle down; however, I knew it would not be in the Midwest. (What a great story! Very brave!)

What kind of music do you like? Favorite artists, bands etc.? What would be your karaoke song? :)

I honestly do not have a type of music. I listen to what inspires me at the time. It could be anywhere from Adele, The Cure to the new JoJo song or Motown. My best karaoke song would have to be a Journey song. Most people don’t know I studied opera from my late teens into my mid 20’s. I won lots of accolades and had an amazing vocal trainer and some wonderful experiences. With ALL that being said, Journey embodies great male vocals. (Whoa, what a hidden talent!)

What is something that drives you crazy?

Not using your turn signals. I wonder why after driver's training people forget the basics.

If you could take a two-week all expenses paid vacation, where would you go, and what would you do?

I have never been to Hawaii--it’s been my dream and something I have always wanted to discover. I would love to explore each island and two weeks would be great for exploring.

Favorite place you've travelled to and why?

I have not been out of the country yet, so the best place that I just love is a tossup between San Francisco and Sedona. Each city has a magical feeling. They are both completely different and both are amazing places to just dive into and feel the life and culture.

If someone was to play you in a movie, who would it be and why?

Mr Clean?? Oh wait that’s a commercial. Honestly I don’t know….hmmmm. :) (Ha! Awesome.)

What are your favorite TV shows?

I am a sucker for sci-fi and drama. I would have to say my drama would be House of Cards. It's by far the best acting and writing I’ve seen on any show in the last 12 years. Sci-Fi ..this is hard…I have so many….hmmm, I would have to say Supernatural. I have not missed one episode in 10 years. It’s a fun show with creepy storylines with lots of 80’s themed music. It also involves an aspect of family that extends well beyond the two brothers portrayed in the show.

What are your hobbies outside of work?

My doggies (Laverne & Shirley). If I have time, I used to be a MASSIVE gamer, but now I just play for fun. PS3 soon to have a PS4. Recently, I found a love for planting flowers. I am learning as I go, but this year I had a good crop of sunflowers over eight feet high. They were beautiful. (PS, Laverne and Shirley are seriously the best dog names.)

If you were a super hero, what power would you have?

Strength. I want to kick butt!

What brought you to CoverHound?

I had been searching for a while for something that I could use my skill set and experience that would directly correlate with my degree and my vast amount of industry knowledge in service. I was just about ready to let it go, when I received an email on Linkedin from a recruiter. The rest is history! (We're so glad you didn't give up!)

Thanks for taking the time to chat with us Joe. Your positive, sunny disposition makes you a perfect fit for this role! Welcome to the CoverHound team!
