We’re so excited to introduce to you our newest engineer, Carmen Diaz Echauri! I sat down with Carmen to ask her a few questions, so we can get to know her better.

Tell me about where you're from, and what brought you to San Francisco?

I was born and bred in Asuncion, Paraguay. Let's just say that what brought me here was a broken heart...luckily! ;)

Do you have any siblings? If so, where do they live?

Yes, I do. I have two older brothers. They both live in my Country.

What do you like to do for fun?

I practice jungshin. I love outdoor activities and to explore different places, so once in a while I go all by myself on road trips. I also love hiking, traveling and reading a good book now and again when my little one allows me! Yes, I have a 16 month old, who I sometimes call General because he is so demanding! (Cute!)

If you could go on all expenses paid trip anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?

Oh wow... that is such a hard question! I have never been to Asia. I would love to go anywhere between Japan, the Philippines or Indonesia.

What type of music do like? Favorite bands / DJs/ singers?

I enjoy a pretty wide range of music (instrumental & electronic). I also love classical / baroque music --my favorite is Johann Pachelbel - Canon in D Major and all the incredible variations out there of it. I also really love Bossa Nova classics. I definitely don't like reggaeton or salsa.

What are your favorite restaurants in SF & why?

Oh man, another hard question. There are so many choices in the city, more than 5,500 restaurants and I have been lucky to try a few of them! I guess now that I have my little one, any kid friendly restaurant is welcome!. Our favorite restaurant lately has been Mozzarella Di Bufala Pizzeria. My baby boy loves corn bread pizza, and the food there is pretty close to home. (Brazilian dishes)

If you won the lottery, what's the first thing you would do or buy?

Hmmm... not sure. Tough question! I mean I have so many dreams; travel around the world, help my family, have my own business, help people less fortunate than me. But I guess I would start first by thinking about my family. I think I would buy a house for my son and I, so he can have a bigger place to play growing up, and I can have family visit me more often. I would also make sure to put money aside for his college and education.

Where's your favorite place that you've traveled to and why?

Prague! It is beautiful! I really enjoyed all the concerts in the old churches!

Who is someone you look up to and why?

My mother. She is a very strong woman and a great example in my life. She is the truest friend I have when adversity takes the place of prosperity, when friends desert me, when trouble thickens around me, she is there, always there to dissipate the clouds of darkness and bring peace to my heart. (That is the sweetest answer ever!)

What brought you to CoverHound?

There is an element of fun and a team spirit here. People here are crackerjack professionals and also really caring and family-oriented. Also, CoverHound has a solid vision and business model. That's inspiring.

Carmen, thank you so much for shining a light into your life! We're so happy to have you here!
