Here at CoverHound, giving back is so important. This year we decided to partner with the Salvation Army to do an Angel Tree to provide gifts for children who would otherwise receive little to nothing for the holidays.
In total we had 31 employees participate, and we provided gifts for 55 children. That number definitely brings us joy! Iris Mata from the Westlake office played a large role in organizing each of the gift tags and scheduling our gift pick up. Thank you Iris!
We went on a group shopping expedition to the Target in Westlake Village where we shopped for gifts that ranged from dolls, to Legos, to books and bicycles. Here are some interesting highlights from our group shopping and gift wrapping experience.
The engineers love legos (no surprise there!). David Yuen bought some for his little boy, but he wanted some for himself too!
An overwhelming majority of kids wanted something related to Frozen, which will likely not come as a surprise to you, unless you’ve been living under a rock. Disney Princess was also a huge hit.
One of our engineers, Erwan Guyader bought a Hello Kitty kitchen set. He was particularly concerned with wrapping the odd-shaped gift neatly, and after getting help from our very crafty Director of Product, Mira Hapsari, he was able to successfully wrap the gift.
Some of the employees even took a quick spin on the new bikes and scooters, just to ensure that they worked. :)
We are all happy to have given back to the community and know that we are going to bring smiles to needy children this holiday season! Plus, we definitely had fun toy shopping. The inner kid in each of us came out. Do your part this year and help out where you can. Every little bit makes a difference!
