On January 14, five CoverHound team members drove down to Stanford's campus for the 2016 BASES Career Fair. BASES is the Business Association of Stanford Entrepreneurial Students, and they have multiple student programs that focus on inspiring, creating, and launching. They are the main source for student-led entrepreneurship at Stanford, with the primary goal of getting students from the idea stage, to the implementation stage, and finally- to launching their own company.
Despite the rainy weather, 1000+ students came out. BASES is the only Stanford career fair focused on startups and attracts top engineering students. About 70 startups attended the event, including: Lyft, Chubbies, Glassdoor, NerdWallet, Neighborly, TaskRabbit, Xamarin, and of course CoverHound.
We handed out branded tumblers, as well as fresh cookies and brownies, and talked to hundreds of students. While there was a concentration of Computer Science majors, we also had the pleasure of meeting quite a few Business, Finance, and Data scholars. Nathan proved to be our most valuable recruiter, probably because his excitement is always so contagious. Overall, we had many applicants who were interested in internships with CoverHound, and we are hoping to get them in the office very soon.
