On February 24th, Dana Maxman and Hilda Dubon-Rand represented CoverHound at The Salvation Army’s Volunteer Awards Luncheon. It was to recognize CoverHound’s participation in their annual Angel Tree Project, an event that we hold near and dear to our hearts.
Community is super important to us, and it was a pleasure to be invited to this event, alongside The Oxnard Police Department, Anthem Blue Cross, American Red Cross to name a few. The atmosphere of the luncheon was all about appreciation, with the Red Cross showing their gratitude to the volunteers that dedicated their time to make a difference in the lives of community members.
The welcoming speech was hosted by Glee Lewis, Advisory Board Vice Chair, followed by the opening remarks by Eric Sontegard, member of the Oxnard Police Department. Delectable food was served, while a slide show covering the various charity events that the Red Cross had in 2015 played. We were thrilled to see a picture of the Red Cross picking up the presents for the Angel Tree Project from CoverHound!
At the end of the slide show, volunteers that made a notable impact through the Red Cross were recognized with framed certificates. The closing and benediction was facilitated by Lieutenant Manual and Daisy Gayton of the Salvation Army, and it was great to see everyone at the event working together towards creating an impact in our community.
It was a true privilege for CoverHound to be amongst all the people that are passionate in contributing back to the community, and we look forward to participating next year!
