Savvy Insurance Shopper, Where Art Thou?

I have always been dumbfounded by the demographic mix of traffic generated by comparison sites in the property & casualty insurance space (auto & home). 25% unemployed? 70% renters? 50% with no college degree? This isn’t the Internet I know. Where are all the savvy online consumers* shopping for insurance? Surely, these consumers want to compare their options efficiently -- as they would in other online verticals, and auto insurance is mandatory in every state except New Hampshire in the US. The truth is, they aren’t because there are no good options for comparing insurance.
