Privacy Policy
General
CoverHound takes each individual's right to privacy extremely seriously. This Privacy Policy (the "CoverHound Privacy Policy") is designed to assist you in understanding how CoverHound will collect, use and safeguard any personal information which may be used to identify you -- like your name, location, email address and telephone number among numerous other types of information (collectively, "Personal Information").
You may choose whether to provide Personal Information to CoverHound. This CoverHound Privacy Policy, which provides guidance with respect to when and where on the CoverHound Website we collect Personal Information, should help you to make this choice. Generally speaking, you may browse the CoverHound website without telling us who you are or revealing personal information. However, because automobile insurance rate information is fact-specific for each driver, not all content or features will be available on the CoverHound website if you elect to withhold Personal Information. In situations where Personal Information might be released by you to CoverHound, CoverHound has implemented processes intended to protect your Personal Information and maintain its security, all as further set forth in this CoverHound Privacy Policy.
First, be advised that CoverHound strives to comply with all applicable laws around the globe designed to protect your privacy. Although legal requirements may vary from state to state and from country to country, CoverHound intends to adhere universally to the principles set forth in this CoverHound Privacy Policy. In other words, CoverHound's goal is to provide protection for your Personal Information no matter where that Personal Information is collected, transferred or retained. In terms of the physical security of our servers and web hosting, be advised that the CoverHound servers are all located in the United States in areas with security procedures, and that we use firewalls and implement available state-of-the-art security technologies. These safeguards help prevent unauthorized access to any Personal Information CoverHound may collect.
Please be advised that from time to time we may make changes to the CoverHound Privacy Policy to meet our -- and your -- changing needs. We encourage you to regularly check this CoverHound Privacy Policy so you are informed of our privacy policies.
The Types of Information Collected By CoverHound
The CoverHound website will pose questions to visitors as part of CoverHound's effort to publish real insurance rates for you. These questions will include items typically asked by automobile insurance providers such as zip code, age, education level, years of driving experience, number of cars owned and/or driven, number of accidents, number of moving violations and so forth. Further, in instances where the website visitor completes a "contact me" form, we will ask for that website visitor's name and telephone number.
When you sign up to get a quote from CoverHound, we ask for your email address. This information lets us send your rates after you leave the site, so you can have them handy. Additionally, your email address enables us to retrieve your quotes -- thereby skipping the process of filling out the application form again -- should you return to the CoverHound site.
CoverHound will also gather certain information automatically and store it in log files. These log files contain standard information collected by web servers, such as client IP addresses, browser type, internet service provider (ISP), operating system, etc. CoverHound uses this information, which does not identify individual users, to analyze trends, to administer the CoverHound website and to gather demographic information about its user base as a whole. CoverHound does not link this automatically collected data to Personal Information. CoverHound also uses "Cookies," small text files saved on your computer, to optimize your experience using our website. Cookies store information such as your Internet Protocol (IP) address, operating system, and session ID. In addition, information you submit in our forms may also be stored. By changing your browser settings, you can reject cookies, or have your computer warn you each time a website attempts to deploy a cookie.
