The Types of Information Collected By CoverHound
The CoverHound website will pose questions to visitors as part of CoverHound's effort to publish real insurance rates for you. We collect sensitive information such as name, physical address, social security number, driver license number and credit card number. We may use this information to verify your driving record or when you choose to buy insurance, etc. These questions will also include items typically asked by automobile insurance providers such as zip code, date of birth, education level, years of driving experience, number of cars owned and/or driven, number of accidents, number of moving violations and so forth. Further, in instances where the website visitor completes a "contact me" form, we will ask for that website visitor's name and telephone number.
When you sign up to get a quote from CoverHound, we ask for your email address. This information lets us send your rates after you leave the site, so you can have them handy. Additionally, your email address enables us to retrieve your quotes -- thereby skipping the process of filling out the application form again -- should you return to the CoverHound site.
You may also provide personal information about other people, such as their name, date of birth and gender. This information is only used for the sole purpose of completing your request or for whatever reason it may have been provided.
We obtain address information about you from third party sources, such as the US Postal Service, to verify your address so we can properly ship your order to you and to prevent fraud.
We may provide your personal information to companies that provide services to help us with our business activities such as email service and chat/live feature. These companies are authorized to use your personal information only as necessary to provide these services to us.

As is true of most web sites, we gather certain information automatically and store it in log files. This information may include internet protocol (IP) addresses, browser type, internet service provider (ISP), referring/exit pages, operating system, date/time stamp, and/or clickstream data.
